Critical Illness Insurance

Critical illness insurance pays you a lump sum benefit in the event that you, or one of your eligible enrolled dependents, experience one of the twelve covered medical conditions.

You may use this lump sum payment to address expenses not typically covered by your medical insurance plan, such as co-pays (medical and prescription drug), deductibles, child-care, mortgage and utility payments. Please note that critical illness insurance is not intended as a replacement for your medical insurance, but rather as a supplement to aid you and your family in a time of need.

The coverage offered through Unum includes subsequent occurrence and recurrence benefits. The subsequent occurrence pays for a critical illness diagnosed in a different category from a critical illness previously diagnosed for which a benefit has been paid under the policy as long as the diagnoses are separated by at least six (6) months. The recurrence benefit pays a reduced benefit for a critical illness diagnosed in the same category as a critical illness diagnosed previously and for which a benefit has been paid under the policy as long as the diagnoses are separated by at least eighteen (18) months. 

You may elect coverage for yourself in increments of $10,000 up to a maximum of $50,000. Your spouse's/domestic partner's coverage is limited to 100% of your approved coverage.

Coverage for eligible dependent children is 100% of the team member's approved amount at no additional cost. You must be enrolled in order to enroll a spouse/domestic partner and/or eligible dependent children.

If you are enrolled in this benefit, you may view your current coverage by accessing the ADP Mobile app or MyONB portal. The portal may be accessed from the home page of the intranet or at myADP.com. Once you log onto the portal, select Benefits from along the top of the screen, then My Benefits. Click Continue until you get to the Main Menu. From here, you can access your Benefits Summary.
