Flexible Spending Accounts
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) are a great way to save money on health care, dependent care and/or transportation expenses. Your FSA contributions are withheld from your paycheck before taxes are deducted. This lowers your taxable income – and, in most cases, your taxes. Full-time and Part-time Level I team members may choose to enroll in a Health Care, Dependent Care and Commuter Flexible Spending Accounts.
Remember To Plan Carefully
While there are tremendous advantages to using FSAs, you must utilize all money pledged to and deposited into each FSA (an amount you determine when you enroll) within the calendar year (January 1 to December 31). Up to $660 remaining in a participants Heath Care account at year end may be carried over to the 2026 new plan year. Any unused amount in excess of $660 left over in your Health Care account after eligible expenses have been paid will be forfeited. Rollover funds from the previous year will be available for use after March 1st. Dependent Care accounts are not eligible for the carry-over. Also, you cannot transfer money from one FSA into another.
Limited Purpose FSA: Team members who enroll in an Old National High Deductible Health Plan and the Health Care Flexible Spending Account for the upcoming plan year can only use their Health Care FSA to pay for eligible vision and dental expenses.
Health Care Reimbursement Account
The Health Care Reimbursement Account allows you to cover eligible health related expenses not covered by your medical, dental or vision plan, such as:
Deductibles
Co-payments
Hearing aids and related expenses
Medical, Dental and Vision services that are considered tax-deductible but are not covered by insurance
You may contribute up to $3300 for the 2025 plan year to the Health Care Reimbursement Account.
IIRS rules do not allow you to get back or carry over any amounts in excess of $660 left in your account at the end of the 2025 calendar year. Therefore, you should be conservative when estimating how much you wish to contribute.
Dependent Care Reimbursement Account
The Dependent Care Reimbursement Account allows you to cover eligible dependent care expenses that enable you and your spouse to work. These may include payments to:
Licensed nursery schools and day care centers
Individuals who provide care in or outside of your home
Certain types of care for an elderly dependent who lives with you
Before-school and after-school care
You may contribute up to $5,000 per year to the Dependent Care Reimbursement Account. The minimum contribution is $240 per year.
Note: If you are married and file separate tax returns, the most you may contribute is $2,500 per year.
Commuter FSA Accounts (Parking and Transportation)
The Commuter funds can be used on a variety of transportation and parking expenses that allow you to travel to and from work. Eligible modes of transportation include but aren’t limited to:
Train
Bus
Subway
Ferry
Vanpool (must seat at least 6 adults)
Parking or parking meter near your place of employment
You may contribute up to $325 per month in both the Parking and Transportation accounts.
Note: The commuter plan is flexible and your funds will continue to roll over month to month until the funds are used. However, your funds will no longer be available if you terminate employment.
